Love Thy Neighbor
|
|
When 40-year-old Joann* called Love INC
one cold day in January, her cupboards were nearly bare, and she had
no means to buy groceries. As a sufferer of chronic seizures that have
left her right hand unusable and affected the use of her legs, Joann is
unable to work or to drive; leaving her isolated and alone. A call to
Love INC connected her with a Christian volunteer who listened compassionately,
prayed with Joann, and personally delivered a food box to her.

Help and Love
|
|
Sherry* looked around her apartment at the devastation. Her
estranged husband had shown up out of the blue the night before and had
destroyed the family’s belongings in a fit of rage and, in the process, terrorized
her six-year-old son and two-year-old daughter. Sherry and her children were scared and
alone, with no family nearby to help them. When Love INC heard her story, volunteers were
mobilized to come beside of her to offer help, encouragement, and prayers, and they were
able to replace almost all the destroyed items: bunk beds, chairs, tables, lamps, and
kitchen and bathroom equipment.

Dave’s House
|
|
Dave* is a disabled veteran who suffers
from congestive heart failure and recently had all the toes on his
right foot amputated. He dearly wished to stay in his home but would
only be able to do so if a walk-in shower was installed because he was
no longer able to climb in and out of his bathtub. Love INC heard about
his need and sent a two-person team of volunteers from Good Shepherd Community Church
to his home. Aided by donations of a new sink, toilet, tiles, and shower door,
the team was able to completely remodel his bathroom, which was in poor condition,
in addition to installing a new walk-in shower.

A Good Night’s Sleep
|
|
Deeann* knew she couldn’t spend another night in her
old bed. Her grandma had gotten twenty good years out of it before she passed away, but
Deeann’s back and neck were not going to be kind to her if she tried to sleep in it for another
twenty. But, dependent on food stamps to feed herself and her 19-month-old daughter, she knew she
couldn’t afford to buy new, or even a slightly used, Deeann called Love INC, who quickly
found a bed for her. When she called back to thank them, she exclaimed, “I haven’t
slept so well in a long time!”
